“In all chaos there is a cosmos. In all disorder a secret order.”
– Carl Jung
We are a little over 3 weeks past the recent rains that flooded our neighborhoods in the Russian River area. In some cases the rains ran 8 feet of water into people’s homes. As I write this, you can still drive through Guerneville, Rio Nido, Monte Rio and Caz and see ruined furniture, sheet rock, sub flooring and appliances littering the highways.
The rains also brought terrific beauty and terrible awe to the forest areas, opening up slides, bringing down trees, creating seasonal waterfalls and covering everything in green. I drove around on Saturday just a few miles from my home and saw a recent tree that fell in the forest from the rains. It had been completely uprooted and fell across the highway. The remainder of the tree had to be chainsawed and moved to the other side of the road. There is a beautiful spot about 2.5 miles up from the start of Fort Ross Rd that has these beautiful rock formations all covered in moss. One rock looks like a green dragon or ancient dinosaur.
