I started thinking about several things I really enjoy, Aikido, visual arts, music and computing and have this wacky notion that I’m going to write, direct and produce an hour long documentary on Aikido here in Sonoma County. I got busy over the weekend upgrading my camera (The Canon T3i body is coming along it’s merry way and should be here on Monday), wrote up an actual project plan and a bunch of supporting documents.
I have a couple goals and have defined two mission statements, one for the film itself and one for the project:

The purpose of this documentary is to showcase the vast and diverse Aikido talent in the Sonoma County and surrounding area, show the commitment of extending O Sensei’s vision of world peace, and encourage others to explore their interest in the art of Aikido.

The purpose of this project is to prove that creating feature length documentaries can be done inexpensively, with free / open source tools found on the Internet and using the minimum amount of hardware.

So there you have it. I may create a blog to support my efforts along the way. To the two or three people that actually read my blog, I’d be looking forward to sharing my trials, tribulations and triumphs. 😀
